What Kind Of Music Does KLFC Perform?

KLFC perform music that is mainly classical, from the great canon of Western choral
music, with occasionally dips into popular music too. Each concert typically features a
mix of music from across the centuries.

Over recent terms we have sung music by: Arensky, Bach, Bibel, Bingham, Byrd,
Chesnokov, Donizetti, Dyson, Gabrieli, Gardner, Lotti, Lyadov, Mascagni, Mendlessohn,
Monteverdi, Handel, Haydn, Lauridsen, Mozart, Pierpoint, Puccini, Rachmaninov,
Rossini, Rutter, Verdi, Vivaldi, Weelkes…to name but a few!

Music Direction

Our new Music Director for 2010 is Tom Appleton with whom we are looking forward to
being stretched and challenged to produce wonderful music, and our fantastic
Assistant Music Director John Byron, who is a wonderful accompanist and
accomplished musician and composer in his own right. There is a live recording below
of one of John's stunning pieces, "Carol". Those who want comfy familiarity and jolly
tunes all the time are warned to stay away lest their ears be opened to new music!

Do follow the links above to find out more about these professional musicians.

Live Music

We have selected some live recordings of the chorus made in the last two years,
ranging over a wide variety of music styles. These were made with modest amateur
equipment by two chorus members and are 'as recorded', i.e. no overdubbing or
cutting. This is what we sound like. The majority of the pieces below were also sung
from memory.
