Rehearsals

The rehearsals take place weekly in term time in the Main Hall of Springwood School.

When?

We meet every Monday evening during term time. A list
of dates is produced at the beginning of each term.
Occasionally there will be an additional Wednesday or
Thursday evening session to make up for lost bank
holidays etc.

Warm-up begins at ~7.05 p.m. and rehearsal of the
term's music begins at ~7.15 p.m. The rehearsal
finishes at 9.45 p.m. promptly, and there is a 15 minute
break at ~8.40 p.m. for tea and coffee.
Are Rehearsals Always Held In The Same Place?

Yes, although occasionally, we are moved to the drama studio 100 metres away, but
prior notice is always given when this is going to occur.

What Should I Bring?

Apart from a desire to sing heartily, you should bring your music, a pencil for marking
up your score (which we do very frequently), and a bottle of water to keep your throat
lubricated.
What If I Know I Can't Make a Rehearsal?

In a large choir it's easy to think an individual voice
doesn't count, but that's not true - each voice is really
valued. If you can't make a rehearsal, please let your
section leader know - it is just good etiquette and
demonstrates your commitment to the other members. If
you miss more than a couple of rehearsals without letting
the section leader know, they will follow up by 'phone to
help you catch up on any specific score changes and
markings, and to check that you are OK.
